[Take one story, viewed from two different angles.]
I happened to came across this phrase while reading the book [the five person u meet in heaven] today, and somehow, I felt that it quite applies to what I am goin to share with you all next…
So it all started off with the treating of cakes to my boss and colleagues on Wednesday afternoon as I had mentioned earlier in my previous post. As you all can see, I was quite happy about giving them this small treat. To me, I feel that this is just a small simple gesture of showing my appreciation to them as I have also been receiving treats from them on several occasions and there simply isn’t any ulterior motive behind it. At first I had thought that they should be happy, if not, at least appreciative about it (C’mon, why should anyone be unhappy if someone else gives you a treat?).
However, I just learnt today that it wasn’t exactly what I had thought it to be. From my colleague’s mouth, I found out that my boss had actually been quite puzzled about the reason for my treat that day as it seems like in his eyes, I have appeared to be quite a stingy person. “STINGY??” I was totally taken aback when I heard about this. I couldn’t figure out what is it that I have said or done that has made him feel that way about me, neither could my colleagues… I was quite sad upon learning this and I sincerely hope that this is not what you all feel about me too… if yes, please do let me know, I definitely do not want to be labeled as a stingy person!
I know that there’s no way I can control other people’s perception about certain things, but I am just quite surprised that a simple gesture like this could actually take on such a different meaning in another person’s eye.

好心没好报!
i've read the book "the 5 person u meet in heaven" and it really inspired me very much... have been wanting to start me own chinese version and simply dont know how to start and i really begin to reflect on my life... and feel that my life is so simple and normal and may not have any effect on anyone at all...
anyway...it's really hard to predict what others will think of you.. but maybe cos u're someone more rational, will tend to keep ur feelings to urself.. so others might have find it more difficult to understand u.. and hence mis-interpreted you...
dont be disheartened.. cos i'm sure pple around will soon appreciate what you have been doing for them..
Cheers
and by the way.. the angmos here actually know Jay chou!!
his new song that ur playing is very nice!!
its hard to please everyone around u.. just do what u tink its rite.. who cares abt what they tink...
defntly don't thnk u're stingy! :) yes, and it's hard to control wat everyone thinks of u, so dun let it bother u, and be confident of urself! :)
yar... i noe its hard to please everyone, wats more everyone has their own opinions on things, juz like others mite not agree with my thinkings as well...
Mebbe this is wat makes life interesting. How boring it will be if everyone thinks in the same way, dress in the same way, talk in the same way, and do the same things...
